MY BACKGROUND
Pianist Turned Singer
Having studied classically from the age of six, piano is certainly an area I am comfortable in. From the first moment I performed Diabelli's Rondo in D Minor with my piano teacher, I knew collaboration was my greatest love as a pianist. Upon entering college at the University of Illinois, I discovered and developed my passion for vocal coaching, which coincided well with my love for collaborative piano. Singing proved to be a challenging, yet worthwhile musical endeavor. My teachers were knowledgeable, passionate vocalists and pianists, and I am grateful for the many valuable lessons I was able to glean from each of my mentors. College was a time I used to execute intense vocal training and gain extensive experience accompanying singers, instrumentalists, and choirs. I worked with tenacity and conviction to shape my voice and hands into strong, adaptable assets.
As someone who had to work incredibly hard to get where I am today, having been able to schedule performances in venues such as Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, I recognize the importance of a good Vocal Coach and Collaborative Pianist. I have consolidated my education and experience into a methodology and teaching philosophy that is friendly, historically-informed, and effective. I am happy to provide accompaniment tracks, regular weekly accompaniment sessions, vocal coaching sessions, and piano lessons.
